Our first letter of the Summer Bucket list we did was to visit Temples. In Malta we are very lucky to have Temples dating from 5500 years ago which are the oldest free standing structures of the world. We visited Hagar Qim and Mnajdra on an Open Day full of activities.
K and L saw miniature models of the temples and old artefacts in the exhibition.
They participated in a children's activity exploring clothing, hairstlyes and accessories worn in prehistory.
Then children and parents had a very interesting and child friendly tour around the temples.
We also tasted a prehistoric menu (sorry no pics as we were too busy tasting). L loved the barley and lamb soup whilst K preferred the fig, honey and cream dessert. Other items on the prehistoric menu were flat bread with herbs and rucola wrapped in beef!!!
This was a very interesting activity for all the family ... I am so glad we did visit this historic site.
This is wonderful!!! Thank you so much for linking up on the culture swap- I am having so much fun visiting everyone's blogs and meeting new globally-minded friends:). Becky from kidworldcitizen.org
ReplyDeleteWhat an amazing experience! How great for the kids to visit the temple, and I would have loved to have tried the prehistoric menu. (And good for them for being willing to try new things!) Glad to have found your blog through the Culture Swapper!
